Visual Edge

Visual Edge is a Data Visualisation-based Windows application, for Teradata Performance Analysis and Management. Built from the ground up for the Teradata data warehouse environment, all functionality in the product is focused on and around the Teradata RDBMS.

Running against standard Teradata internal performance data, and other custom-derived performance data, Visual Edge is a powerful suite of functionality that allows analysis of all aspects of Teradata performance in both the historical, near-real time and pure real time domains.

Visual Edge can be used by staff of differing skill levels, from expert to relatively junior staff. All data collection, correlation, manipulation and processing is taken care of by Visual Edge, allowing the user to spend all of their time analysing the data presented. DBA and System Management staff are the prime beneficiaries of the use of Visual Edge, however Development Staff will also benefit by being able to rapidly analyse the results and likely impacts of new application developments.

Teradata Performance data is presented to the user in a series of consistent and easy to use visual “Landscapes”. There are landscapes for Clique/Node/Amp Landscapes, User by CPU, User by I/O and Priority Scheduler Groups, Table Usage, Queries etc and “All Parameters” – a powerful tool to view all behaviour characteristics of the data warehouse in a single screen – irrespective of system size. Also included is a Multi-Value Column Compression modelling facility; that reduces the task of column compression modelling from hours per table to a few minutes. Additionally, pre-templated reporting (both .DOC and HTML) benefit the user, and deliver substantial productivity improvements.
